Highland Football Academy Roadshow

On Tuesday 24th April, Peter Budge, Football Development Officer for the Highlands and Islands came to Glaitness to do a session with us.

Here are some pictures of us in action.

World Book Day

This week to celebrate World Book Day the P4
class got into pairs and read to some P1 children.
P1 loved listening to the stories!  I think the P4s really enjoyed the stories too!  This group loved the story of 'My Best Friend Bob' about 2 guinea pigs.
Some of us went in the cosy reading corner which Miss Grieve has made with the P1s.
We took turns to read, making sure the younger children could see the lovely pictures.
We tried to use lots of expression in our voices!
We made sure the P1s were comfortable!  We let the younger children stroke Boris the hairy, orange monster!
Some of us read funny books and enjoyed a good giggle!

Some of us found a cosy, quiet area in the library to read 'The Cat In The Hat'

Some of us took in super books from home which we wanted to read to the younger children.

When we all came together to discuss how it had gone the P4s realised that P1 are better listeners than themselves!  We would all love to do that activity again very soon!

Investigating Gravity

We carried out an experiment today to discover the effects of gravity on different objects.

We used different shapes, sizes and weights of objects to see if this made any difference.

Using two objects at a time, we dropped them from the same height at
the same time, and watched to see if they hit the floor together.

We found that all of the objects landed together (even when dropping a hockey ball and a marble) except for the feather. It caught the air which made it fall more slowly.

We had a very active, fun and noisy afternoon!

Well done P4!

As a class we have been working very hard to earn smiley faces.  When we reach our target of 40 smiley faces we get to have a treat afternoon of our choice.

We chose to have an afternoon of playing on our iPods, DS or other toys from home.

We reached our target this week, so got to have our 'treat' on Wednesday afternoon.

Here are some pictures of us enjoying our afternoon.

We are already working towards our next 40 smiles, and next time we are going to have a movie afternoon with snacks and drinks.
