We made posters to explain the picnic and show what foods we were planning to have.
We wanted to use local produce, so decided to use Orkney Cheese to make pizzas and sandwiches.
Here are the finished pizzas!
We also wanted to have some local, seasonal produce to have with our pizza and sandwiches, so Mrs Tulip kindly gave us some from her garden.
The peas were delicious.
Mrs Tulip also made Orkney Broonie, which is an old fashioned
gingerbread made with oatmeal. It was really tasty.
We spent the morning working hard preparing the pizzas and sandwiches.
Some mums kindly came in to help with the preparations.
The sun shone for our picnic and we had a lovely time.
We held it in the school courtyard which was a great place for it.
First of all we introduced our teddy bears to each other.
Then we ate!
We had quite an impressive spread. Several pupils brought in pancakes made by their mums and grannies. We enjoyed them with Mrs Tulip's homemade jams.
To ensure there was no waste, we used reusable plates, and containers, and even collected up the crusts and scraps for Mrs Tulip to take home for her hens!
We finished off our picnic by playing in the courtyard with our teddies.
We all had a fantastic time!
Here are some of our comments:

" I liked eating the pizza and playing teddy bear catch. I learned that you shouldn't waste cups if they're paper and don't waste food." Erin
